Remington 870 Express 12 guage to Tactical Help

Post by wvlion »

I have an 870 express 12 guage 27 inch ribbed barrel synthetic shotgun (uses 2 3/4 and 3.00 shells). What can I do to this to make it more tactical for home defense (ex. shorter barrel etc.)? Not looking to spend a lot of money. Let me know if there is a conversion kit out there or another way. It would need to be simple enough for a non-gunsmith to do.

Thanks.

Pick up an 18-20 inch cylinder bore/improved Cylinder bore barrel and swap it out with the 27 inch tube and remove magazine Limiting plug if you have one In. You can add A magazine extention, lights, extra shell carriers.

When I hear “I dont want to spend a lot of money” or “budget” I tell them get a hacksaw or an 18” barrel.

That is all you really need, the rest is “nice to have” stuff. What ever you choose to use, just make sure it is good quality stuff. Protecting your and your families lives is NOT the place to cut corners on.

Here we go I’m just done with mine. +5 tube, red dot, picatinny mount, new furniture plus vertical grip and tungsten painted.

Get a 26” barrel and it will probably be flush with your extension.

I kind of agree. A 20”+3 is the absolute MAX I would use as a HD regarding maneuverability. This is a 1950 4-digit serial number I built. With 7 rounds and 6 in the side saddle if it cant get you out of trouble in your home nothing will.
