Slide sticking

Post by Jcw »

Took my 870 out for the second time today and had some issues with the slide sticking. Both on ejection and loading. Never had a used shell get stuck in the barrel but the slide was hard to pull back after shooting and to push forward again. I tried polishing the chamber like many people recommend. Haven’t been able to shoot since the polish but it still seems sticky loading a shell. Here’s a picture of right when the slide starts to stick. I can still push it forward but it takes more effort than normal. It happens with multiple ammo types and it slides just fine without any ammo. I can’t tell what’s making it bind up. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Check to make sure your ejector isn’t broken or bent and check to make sure your forend tube where the slide and bolt rests on isn’t bent.

I have a similar problem and action only stick when loading.

If you pull action all the way back, put a shell about 1/3 way in the chamber (to make sure from of shell doesn’t jam) then push action forward to load, will it still bind?

Sorry for the delay, it’s been a crazy week... anyway I tried loading a shell about 1/3 into the chamber manually and if I do that the action does not bind. So what would that mean? Thanks for the help.

Did you try take it down and apply a little lube? On mine that made a surprising large difference.
