870 Barrel repair

Post by Copross » Wed Mar 20, 2019 11:41 pm

Got an 870 18” Barrel in a trade that was an LE training barrel. There is a 1/4” threaded hole approx. 2 1/4” from the breech end presumably to forbid a live round from seating completely in the Barrel. Can this be safely welded or otherwise fixed? Thanks for any input.

If it's threaded, I'd look for a blind plug that you could screw in with some DEVCON or JB WELD to secure it. You'd have to trim it so there was no protrusion into the chamber, of course. The safest method is to just scrap that barrel and buy a new one. They aren't too expensive, and often your LGS will have a selection of take-offs from shotguns that other folks weren't using.
