WTB 1970s Protective Devices Corp conversion kit

Post by DaveC »

Trying for an "old school" retro-futuristic tactikewl build:

1971 P. MacDonald Tabor of Protective Devices Corporation of Costa Mesa, CA made a "whipit" conversion kit for police shotguns. I'm looking for either an early polyurethane model or the later resin version.

This conversion kit included a pistol grip, a bit like the Pachmayr Vindicator, perhaps, and an unusual universal forearm that filled up all the space behind the magazine cap/barrel attachment to the receiver, completely enveloping the barrel and tube magazine, but with a window so the ejection port would not be covered.

Also a twin shoulder loop strap with a lanyard and sliding hook was sometimes supplied.

So any police collectors or persons with "Old school" 1970s-vintage police equipment, let me know! ;)

Does anyone know of a Texas-based 3-D printing wizard? :?: :?

I'd think a custom shotgun stock and fore-end designer might feel, well, snubbed or insulted or something with a request to do something in "tactikewl" polymer materials... Unless the price was $$$$ right to ensure only off-site snickering and eye rolling.

I've worked with parts in a variety of 3D-printed materials. Not sure I'd trust any of them to take 12ga recoil.

No polymer to go around the metal portions with the dual action bars, eh?

[deep sigh :( ]

Nuts. :|

I have turned up any number of old cop car buffs... Still no old-timey PD gear weirdos or nerds... Except a fringe appreciation for the proto-snub nosed "Fitz Special" revolver hack jobs... :) No PD shotgun stuff? :?: :|
