New-to-Me 870 Express Synthetic

Okay, for a guy who never truly own a shotgun, it's suddenly raining 870's here. Picked up an almost new 870 Express Synthetic today, but not the combo. S'okay, as I have a spare slug barrel already on hand. In fact, I may move the wing-shooting barrel off to my 870 Wingmaster and just keep this one set up for slugs, since it's black anodized finish and synthetic furniture are more suited to woods crawling around here.

The barrel that came on it is listed as 3-1/2 Magnum, but the receiver codes don't seem to match up. The serial # starts with RSxxxxxY. Any help?

The letter at the end of an "RS" serial number doesn't mean anything. If the receiver has the elongated ejection port with the sliding port cover on the bolt, it's a SuperMag. If not, it's a Magnum receiver.

Thanks all. Now I have a synthetic rifled-slug-barrel version to haul around the muskegs, and the older Wingmaster got the field VR barrel from this one. There's also a smooth-bore slug barrel in the mix if needed.

Sounds like a plan, that woud keep your wingmaster from getting beat up, you could shoot game loads through that smooth bore as well.
