I just got a new Remington 870 Police Magnum with the 2 shot extension tube. It should have a 7 shot capacity, 6 in tube with 1 in chamber.

But for the life of me it only accepts five 2 3/4" shells in the tube. It does not even budge after inserting the 5th rd. Seems impossible to get a 6th rd in the tube. Does it just need to be worked more, is there a trick or am I missing something.

Re: Remington 870P Magnum Help
Is the mag spring binding? Follower binding?
Remove the +2 extension, leave the tube open, and insert shells like you're loading them in the tube and watch what's going on in there.
If it's not dragging in the tube, I wonder if the follower isn't hanging on the lip of the extension.

Re: Remington 870P Magnum Help
If you're able to load five, and then the follower stops, it's almost certainly catching on the joint between the mag tube and the extension tube. Try removing and properly re-installing the extension (coupling by itself first, followed by the extension tube), making sure that everything butts up, and see if that solves the issue. Also check the bracket; make sure it has the right spacing for your barrel. If you still have issues, you might have to deburr the mouth of the extension tube.

870P extended magazine springs are heavy, you might want to take it off and make sure it is not bound up in some awkward way. The extension is two piece so when you reinstall it put the barrel and extension nut on first then put the spring in and install the tube last. Throw a few rounds or snap caps in and cycle it to allow things to seat, then try loading it again, let us know.
