Barrel missing detent??

Just bought a Remington 870 barrel. It seems to be missing the detent. When I tighten the cap it doesn’t click down with some resistance but it goes right on and loosens really easily? Anything I can do? Thanks guys.

Is it drilled for a detent or is it an Express barrel?

It is drilled for a detent and has a hole in the barrel ring

There a couple of things you can do

You can order the detent and spring from Brownells. Very easy to install the spring and detent.

I would go with the correct parts above, but you can also order one of these wave washers which does work rather well.

. It says it works on an 870. I will purchase the staker. Thanks!!!

When you use tge staking tool make sure you have it turned correctly. Turn the v notch toward the the hole that fits around the magazine tube.
