Yeah, if you want cheap homemade slugs, just get a basic .680 or .690 round ball mold, or one of the Lee Drive Key slug molds. Cut shells suck; they can't cycle in the gun reliably, their external and terminal ballistics are wildly unpredictable, and with modern plastic hulls & fast-burning target powders, you could very easily be spiking pressures beyond what the gun is designed for by cramming plastic through the barrel.
