870 RemChoke needed Cylinder or Improved Cyl.
Re: 870 RemChoke needed Cylinder or Improved Cyl.
I know full and torkey chokes are NOT for shooting slugs at all. You can shoot buck and bird through them. Full, skeet 2( improved modified), turkey(super), etc. are great for birdshot!

Buckshot and slugs can be used through chokes tighter than IC, though accuracy may not always be the best with slugs. Tight chokes all the way up to Full are often used when hunting with buckshot, and Remington offers their Police shotguns with fixed Modified chokes for departments who want a little extra range with buckshot. For HD though, there's not usually much need to shoot at longer distances. Cylinder, Skeet, and IC tend to be preferred because they're fine for close-range use with shot, and tend to play nice with slugs when you need to reach out further. But since you have the ability to change chokes in your shotgun, you can play around and see what gives the best results with your specific shells. No one choke is best with all ammo.
Full chokes are fine with buckshot, but the tighter turkey chokes may not be up to handling the larger pellets. Probably best to stick with lead birdshot in those tubes unless you can confirm with the manufacturer that they're buckshot-safe.
