870 express question
870 express question
I just purchased a 870 Remington express 12 guage. Bought it from Bud's gun shop it had a factory 2 shot extra extention already on it. I bought a type 2 spring & follower from S&J and a wave washer from Wilson combat to re- install on the extention. The wave washer was really tight after a few threads. I did get it down but it was hard. Do you think this will be ok. I did not use anything but my fingers to tighten it up. I do not want to have any feed problembs. I also put a magpul clamp on the barrel & the extention so everything is tight & looks in place. It looks fine after I tightened it down & it crushed the wave washer but like I say it was hard to tighten up. Do you think this will be ok. Thanks for any help
Re: 870 express question
Have you filled it to capacity? Loaded then unloaded it? Have you fired it yet? You really need to run her? It is VERY important that you don't have any gaps between the extension and the mag tube? Can you post us a picture?

Re: 870 express question
If it had a factory-installed extension on it, then it should have a barrel with a mag cap detent to keep the extension tight under recoil. Between that and the bracket/clamp, there shouldn't be any need to run a wave washer.
Re: 870 express question
I think you may be right about the wave washer. So I may take it out. No I have not shot it yet.Waiting on my Fenix t-16 light & my Barska generation 4 green dot lazer to show up. I orig bought a gen 3 barska & found out from several reviews that it was only good to 60 degrees & the light may flutter due to cold weather so I sent it back & got the gen 4 that operates 14 to 122 degrees which will be great. My camera is down rt now but I will post asap. This is a great shotgun & thanks to all who helped me. I orig thought the wave washer was a good ideal but after I installed it & considering how tight it is I think it would be better if I took it off.
