18" Full Choke?

Post by Ruglette »

Has anyone heard of an 18" Remington barrel in full choke? I'm wondering if they exist, factory made?

I've never seen a riot barrel with a fixed Full choke, but there are 18/18.5" barrels that are threaded for screw-in chokes. Nothing stopping you from using one of those and popping a Full tube in.

My reason for asking is I have an eye on an 18 inch riot barrel that the guy says is a "factory full choke." I've never seen one or even heard of one. I think it's a barrel that's cut down...

If it's cut-down, it may have "Full" stamped on the barrel, but it'll most likely be a Cylinder bore in reality, since the original choke was cut off. See if the guy can give you an interior diameter measurement at the muzzle. Modern Remington Full chokes tend to be around .690" - .700", though fixed choke on an older barrel might lean tighter.

These are my thoughts too. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other experiences like this or if I missed seeing an 18" full choke barrel over the years.
Tks.

Finally got the guy to send me pics of the muzzle. It is clearly cut off with a lathe. It's not even blued at the edge. It also has a large silver coloured bead on it! The guy tried to argue that it was factory...nawt! No sale here, lol!

A quick way to check to see if it is a full choke is to take a dime and see if it will fit in the muzzle. A dime normally will NOT fit in the muzzle of a full choke bore.
