Here's a picture I took for a recent review. Thought it came out pretty good (as far as my photography skills go, at least):

Image

12ga Express Magnum 18.5" fixed Cylinder bore. Express synthetic stock with SuperCell pad and mid-length fore-end. Random sling that usually stays on my Mauser rifle. S&J Hardware MK II +2 extension kit, TruGlo TG8030DBR 2-color 30mm red dot. Nice straightforward, comfortable-shooting home/woods defense setup that's really accurate with slugs and buckshot, and holds 7+1 of most 2.75" shells. About 7.5 lbs unloaded. The one thing it's really missing is a QD front sling mount; I'm looking at having a custom plate made for the S&J extension.

If both the above are accurate I will put this +2 on the 18" and put the +3 on this one.
Make sure the brackets are the proper ones for your barrels. There are high- and low-spaced barrels & brackets, and mixing them up can make the Remington factory extensions unreliable.

It is my 870 given to me by my Granddad many years ago.
1962 .20 gauge with a 28 inch barrel and modified choke.
That's a very nice-looking specimen. Take care of that classic!

Thanks , Synchronizor
Oh I do take good care ... We only go hunting on nice days.
I have another 870 being re-worked into a "Special Field" replica...
It also a .20 gauge , with a 22 inch barrel and using the Rem -Choke system along with a English Style stock.
That one will be my "everyday" hunter and shooter.

I'd be interested in seeing your Special-Field-styled build once it's done. I'm assuming it won't be built on the lightened 3-round receiver with the special short fore-end, but it should still be a nice little piece with that 22-inch barrel.

By the way, it's just "20-gauge", no decimal point. You can make 20 bore-sized balls for that gun out of a pound of lead, so it's a whole number. An actual 0.20-gauge gun would have a bore diameter of about 2.86 inches, and a lead ball for it would weigh 5 pounds. Here's how the math works.

The "Special Field" replica will not have a shortened forearm .., and I yep I think the 22 inch barrel will be handy when hunting.
As for ".20 gauge " and how math works.. .. I know how math works , it was just a typo.
