Home Defense Storage

Post by The New Guy »

Im looking for ideas to store my HD 870. I have a walk-in closet in my bedroom that I thought I could mount some locking hooks over the door for easy access yet still being discreet. Keep in mind I have a 19 month old baby, and a 4 month old baby.

For kids that age, hooks over the door, well out of reach should be fine. Complement that with a good trigger lock for when no-one's in the house. Won't stop the gun from being stolen, but at least you won't be dodging buckshot if you come home and catch a thief in the act. As the kids get older, a safe, cabinet, or locking case may be appropriate, depending on the kids. If your closet uses a standard doorknob, it'd be quite easy to replace it with one that uses a key-lock or a combination. Also lets the closet work for storing other valuables, or possibly as a panic room during a home invasion.
