I purchased last weekend a 870 Wingmaster. I would like some help with correctly identifying the production date. I hope I attached the file correctly. The gun is almost spotless and doesn't appear to have been fired (my opinion). Just in case the pic doesn't post, the two digit is "AZ". There is an odd symbol to the left of the AZ and "80" to the right.
According to the serial number table on this site, it is either March 1931 (which I don't believe is correct) or March 1975 (more believable).

870s weren't made in the 1930s. Assuming the barrel is original and you're decoding the date stamp correctly, 1975 would be the only option.
You can email Remington with your receiver's serial number. They should be able to confirm that month & year if it's correct.
