870 Express Tactical, 18.5 barrel, 2 shot extension tube, ghost ring site. I haven't given up on yet. I hope Remington makes it right or gives me a new gun...will see. I've already ordered some accessories for it so hope to get it back soon. Have magpul stock and mesa tactical shell holder ordered. Thinking about a reflex sight...don't want to spend a fortune on that...any recommendations? Looking at Burris fastfire III, is if anyone knows anything about that one or has other suggestions that would be great. Fastfire would be at the upper limit of what I want to spend.

That extension may be what caused the issue with the barrel. Remington factory extensions are two-piece, with two male-threaded tube sections butting together inside a female-threaded coupling that also serves to secure the barrel:

If the extension's loose out of the box (not too uncommon, it can happen during shipping, or if someone was fiddling with it in a gun store), and it comes loose, it has to be tightened back down in a specific way, or the barrel may not be secured properly even if the extension seems tight.

As for the front sight, yeah, that's probably Remington's screw-up.

Hope it all works out for you; 870s are great guns.
