Nitro 887 express

Post by dlamrine »

My son while home on leave used my Nitro and of all things lost the Barrel while duck hunting with it. I have not been able to locate anything local. Two questions,1 does anyone know of one out there,or has anyone tried to swap out the 887 for a 870.

Despite the similar model numbers, the 870 and 887 are vastly different shotgun designs. Among other things, the 870 uses an old-school tilting-block barrel/bolt lockup (which is perfectly adequate for low-pressure shotshells), while the 887 uses a much more modern rotating bolt, so the barrels are in no way interchangeable, even with modifications.

Remington stopped producing the 887 just last year, so replacement barrels shouldn't be too tough to find if you shop around online. They'll probably become less common the longer you wait, though.
