Newbie

Post by usafveteran1971 »

Hello Everyone. I Am New To This Forum And Live In The State Of Arkansas. I Have Had An 870 For Years And Carried One In The Air Force. Always Loved The 870. I Am Currently Updating Or Maybe Back Dating One. Taking Off The Collapsible Stock And Putting the Original One back On That Holds Extra Shells, Along With Sling Mounts And A Sling. By The Way The 870 Is The Tactical Model. I Have Also Put on A Extended Magazine Tube To make It a 7 Shot And A Bayonet Mount Just For Looks. Mostly It Is Just A Home Defense Gun That Is Practical For Me. Although The Bayonet Mount May Be A Bit Overboard. I Got The E-Mail From This Site And Ordered The E Book About It And Am Planning On Getting A Book On It Also To Learn More About Working On It For Minor Upgrades. I Think I Will Like This Forum If I Can Remember To Check It Once In Awhile. Thanks For Having Me As A Member.

Welcome usafveteran1971. We're glad you found us.

Good deal you are doing the mods on your rig. Lots of neat things you can do. I like your idea of the bayonet " just for looks ". My Tactical ( model 25077 ) has a Pumpkin Puncher breech adapter on the mag cap, also " just for looks ". Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

Lots of good folks on the forum with eons of experience.

Welcome to the forum.

If you want to learn more about working on your 870, check out the book The Remington M870 and M1100/11-87 Shotguns A Shop Manual by Jerry Kuhnhausen. Not much in there about upgrades (which, honestly, the 870 really doesn't need), but it has all kinds of good info on take-down, inspection, repairs, updating & replacing parts, and troubleshooting problems.
