870 special field 18.5?

Ok so i got a special field for 350 today, remington confirmed it was a 84 special field with a 21" vent rib but the barrel that is on it is 18.4 stamped under the barrel is 18.4 and the proof marks that say 870 sf. I'm confused on what i have.

Are you saying that the barrel is 18.5/18.4" long, or is the barrel a normal length, and that's just what's stamped on it?

Special Field 870s had short fore-end assemblies and special 3-round magazine tubes. They require special barrels with guide rings attached closer to the breech end. Standard 870 barrels meant for 4-round mag tubes cannot be swapped onto a Special Field unless they have been specially modified by a gunsmith.
