870 Magazine Plug
I have recently purchased a used Remington 870 Wingmaster Super Magnum 12ga with a VR barrel and RemCkoke. I have stripped it down to look at everything and realized I didn't have a magazine plug. (I won't need one unless I'm going to hunt water fowl, but none the less) understandably didn't get a manual either.
My question is, should the magazine plug be the same size wrether it's chambered for 2 3/4", 3", or 3 1/2?
I hope this isn't too stupid of a question. Have pity on an old Virginia boy.

Re: 870 Magazine Plug
You chose a great gun, congrats. As far as a magazine plug, you'll be required to get a plug different than the one used for 2 3/4 and 3" chambers because of the 3 1/2" chamber.
Call Remington to get the owners manual. Also ask them to include a plug with the manual. They're good folks and should take care of you. If not, they are sold on the Internet for about $6 from places like MidwayUSA. Just make sure you get the plug for the 3 1/2" chamber. At least you have time before duck season.
Good luck.

The super mag uses the same mag tube plug for 2.75 to 3.5........

Re: 870 Magazine Plug
The Remington book says Super Magnum is different part number. Don't know about the length on each of them.

Re: 870 Magazine Plug
I got my plug today and inserted it in my 12ga WM SuperMag. The (green) plug which is supposed to fit any of the 870's regardless of the different chambered sizes, allowed just (2) 2 3/4" shells in the mag and with 1 in the chamber, puts me in compliance with the requirement for the Migratory Bird Regs. Sooo . . . while the black and green plugs do have different p/n's, it seems their lengths are identical. I hope that this info may help anyone who may have similar questions.
