Just found the site and wanted to introduce myself. I am in Phoenix and use the 870 for work as a corrections officer, I just purchased a 870 Express Deer gun for home defense and hunting and want to learn more about the weapon. I hope to gain a wealth of information from the forum. Thanks for having me!!

Welcome to the forum.
Which type of slug barrel did your gun come with? Rifled or smoothbore?

My approach to learning a new firearm is acquiring all the info I can about it and that usually involves some reference books and manuals. I decide what the uses will be and what will be needed to get there in terms of parts and labor. Most accessories will never be acquired but like to know of them.
Shotguns for me have always been for hunting birds and clay bird shooting and not built for SD, but any state it's in will work for SD if needed.
Again welcome and some of my thoughts.

Welcome!
Re: New Member from Arizona
Thanks bud, like I said in the OP I use these at work and I am required to stay proficient year to year with the 870. I plan on using this for bird hunting with a longer barrel and for self defense with the 20" barrel. But more importantly as mentioned for work, we also get a discount on them as we are considered law enforcement where I currently work. And I plan on getting lots of accessories! Kind of a hobby and keeps my mind occupied. Like they say, to each their own.BurstBarrel wrote:Welcome hike500,hike500 wrote:Its a smooth bore. Added an extension mag and a new wolf spring for it.
