How do you like the Esstac carrier ?
I was thinking about that myself but wasn't sure I wanted to stick the Velcro on the cerakote coating.

Hey thanks, I like the carrier, although getting the shells in carrier is a two handed affair. The coating should be fine if you have to remove it.

Added a Magpul MS4 QD sling, Bushnell TRS-25 red dot, S&G follower and swapped out the MOE buttstock for a CTR.

I'm in the process of building an 870 tac from a receiver I picked up. I was torn on Magpul SGA stock (which I had one sitting, but it ended up being for a Mossberg 500) or an AR style stock and grip. I ended up going with Hogue as a temp setup and am waiting on it to arrive. What made you switch from the SGA stock that came with the Magpul edition to the Magpul furniture on the Mesa tactical adapter?

My wife and son also shoot with me, and to get the correct LOP for all of us, we needed/wanted an easily adjustable stock. I went with the Mesa with the Crosshair hydraulic buffer to mitigate the felt recoil, lets us adjust LOP quickly, and let me tell you, it works awesome!
Shooting target loads, the recoil is next to nothing. I fired 100 rounds this past weekend of 00 buck, and slugs and could have fired another 100. If you fired 100 rounds though the old "Winny", you would have been black and blue for sure.
The stock works great, slide it in all the way for wifey, 2 clicks for son, and fully extended for me.
Don't get me wrong, the SGA stock is great, no problems with it at all, but the LEO makes life so much easier for the family.

Good to know! Thanks for the information. I'm actually looking for a low recoil setup for the misses, so this might just be exactly what I'll look into.

Hey jdinny - any updated pics? I'm interested in seeing how the TRS 25 looks on the 870.

How is it coping with the recoil? I must be honest and say that I've never seen a TRS being used on a shotgun so very interested to see how it's holding up as I'd assume shotgun recoil to be harder on the optic that an AR.
