Card shooting

Post by Zlmyers83 »

I currently have a 12ga 870 wingmaster with a full choke barrel. I'm thinking about getting a screw-in choke to put more shot on the paper. I need some suggestions, please.

Are you looking for help with getting a fixed-choke barrel threaded for choke tubes? Or are you asking for input about selecting choke tubes for a barrel that's already threaded?

The barrel isn't threaded yet. Before I get it threaded, I would like to know if it's worth doing. Is there a proven screw in choke that would work well with a full choke barrel on splatter card? Turkey choke or extra full...brands...etc.

The pattern a specific choke tube throws depends a lot on the load you're shooting through it. If you're serious about getting the best pattern, you really need to do some testing to find the best-performing load/choke combo in your gun. If you have your barrel threaded for a common choke system like Rem Chokes, you'll have a ton of options to pick from, with the freedom to change or upgrade at any point. There'll surely be something out there that will pattern better than your current fixed full choke.
