What is a fair asking price for my 870?

Post by quincy07 »

I have listed my 870 on a few local Facebook gun sales pages but haven't had much luck.

Here is the description I put on fb:

Remington 870 Tactical for sale. Less than 200 rds through it. Several upgrades on the gun. Blackhawk recoil reducing stock w/ "Powerpack", GG&G follower, Wilson +1 mag tube extension, Wilson oversized safety, Mesa Tactical 6 rd side holder, and Magpul forend. Will also include about 30 rds 00 buck shot and the old parts that came w the gun and any other parts that came w the accessories. Asking $550 OBO and am losing money at that price.

Am I asking way too much for the accessories I've got on my gun, if so what would be a fair price for the package? Would I be better off putting the gun back to stock then sell off the accessories? I need the money but don't want to give it away.

I'd say asking for what you spent on the gun and accessories is a "fair" price if everything is in like-new condition. But then you have to wait for someone to come along who wants exactly what you're selling. Folks aren't generally going to want to pay extra for parts they don't intend to use - especially when they could just get a basic 870 on sale at Wal-Mart and build it up themselves.

Maybe you could try offering to remove add-ons upon request, replacing them with the factory parts for an appropriate reduction in price. That may help you sell the gun faster at less of a loss, and then you can try selling any leftover aftermarket parts separately.

Very good advice.... you might find someone who does not want the stock but likes the forend etc... Good Luck!
