I have looked all over and still can't determine the age of my 870. Serial # 50xx V. I tried to use several sites but my number has no letters in front of the number, barrel and action match so these are the only numbers on the gun. I would appreciate any help I can get on this. Not interested in selling just want to know. I traded a 1963 Ford pickup for this gun around 1975.
Thank You

A serial number with no letter prefix points to a manufacturing date of 1968 or earlier. That's as far as the serial number alone will get you with publicly-available information.
If you can find a date stamp on the barrel (I know you said you looked, but check again, they can be pretty faint sometimes), that could narrow it down further; or Remington should be able to tell you exactly when your gun was made if you call or email them.
