Hey guys. About two or three years ago, my buddy and I went to a local gun store. I had just picked up a 1911, but he had the money to grab two police 870 trade ins. Now, with a future wife and two dogs to take care of, and a new home coming up, I am in possession of one of them. Wish I'd saved it sooner. He basically left it in it's case, never cleaned or shot it aside from slapping a junk tacstar sidesaddle on it. As such, the parkerized finish has some pitting or something, which I'll have to take care of at some point. Anyways, here it is!

Thought about that - then I thought, "Wait a minute. This gun would look badass enough if it was refinished as classic pig style!"

I've read up on a few guides and how tos for parkerizing - doesn't look easy, but also doesn't look impossible. I'd like to get some old beat up riot wood to refinish too. I'd define my build as more MK1 reproduction than tacticool, although I do want a light on it somewhere.

I'm not a complete fan of the tacticool look. I like the classic looks of an old riot gun. If you do a mag tube extention there are barrel clamps that have pic rails on them to mount a light. I've been looking into them myself.

Might have to look into that. My build is going to be a bit clamp heavy already, since I'm hoping to use the Remington one for the sling stud and an S&J hardware one for the bayo lug. Who knows, there might be room.

Also found a good set of US milsurp wood stocks, complete with rack number (21). Really hope I win the bid, would love to refinish them and make it all purdy again. If not though, the same seller has a set of riot stocks too.

Seen it on ebay. Set my max bid high (for me) but someone may decide to sell their comic book collection and beat me out.

You won't be able to use the factory magazine extension bracket with S&J's bayonet mount - at least, not if you want to actually use a bayonet. The bottom of the factory bracket will get in the way of the hilt.

Interesting, but is that a plus three? I assumed with the plus three being a few inches longer the bayo lug would attach further down.

That's a +2 extension tube in those pictures, but while the +3 tube is about 2 inches longer, the bracket groove is still in the same place relative to the front end, so the result is the same.
