Hi everyone , of course im joining because I have recently purchased a 870, Im a long time shooter as I live in the farm land of Australia,I grew up with all types of guns and our pump action 12 was a Winchester. As people know we had a firearm re-ruling in 1996 and unless you were a farmer or pro shooter you had to hand in your semis and pumps 12g. we handed our Winchester in as the government was buying back any firearm at this time also as a means of lessening the firearm numbers, all it did was give everyone a chance to sell of there worn out and shit guns , now there is more guns than before. we just don't have the numbers of pump and semi's. go figure we can have a pump centre fire rifle but not shotgun on a standard licence but we can have a lever action 12g. not even aloud to have a semi 10-22 unless a farmer or pro shooter.
luckly I qualify so Ive just ordered a 870 express synthetic combo 28" and 20". or I could get just the 28 in wood or synthetic. that's it Remington Australia offers no more options -NO other barrels to buy separate. and because the average joe cant use semi's or pump there is no accessories in stores eg stocks grips etc. Ill have to buy international. worst thing is im stuck with these barrel sizes unless I go through a shit load of paper work through customs. Oh did I mention we are limited to 4+1 round capacity.
and to top it of $1400 AUS for the combo
anyway I look forward to the 870 community for info along the way
cheers Paul

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that it's so tough to get your hands on 870s & 870 paraphernalia down there. BS firearms laws always suck, because they're written by agenda-driven politicians who have no idea what they're writing about.
At least the 870's a solid gun that doesn't really need upgrading or (in most cases) frequent repair, and with the 28"/20" combo package, you have a pretty darn flexible setup as-is. Plus, the stock Express synthetic furniture is very functional; the only thing lacking about it is the recoil pad, and Remington makes an excellent drop-in upgrade that's very easy to find and not that expensive.
