Removing Rust Pitting

Hi All - I'm getting started with my Wingmaster restoration project. I plan to rust blue the metal work, and have begun sanding the receiver, but there's some significant pitting on it as you can see below. Any good recommendations on removing the pitting?

I have the same issue on my 79 Wingmaster.
