Recoil Pad for 870 Express

Post by Kobe »

Hi all,

This is my first post and hopefully this hasn't been asked a gazillion times.

I need a recoil pad for my 12 ga 870 Express and one for my daughter's 20 ga Express Youth. I was hoping to get a screw on that fits pretty close to flush. Remington says the R3s don't fit.

Any ideas, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What stocks do your and your daughter's 870s have? If one or both of your stocks are compatible, I would highly recommend the Remington SuperCell recoil pad. They're pre-fit, inexpensive, simple, slide well over most clothing, and make shooting extremely comfortable

I just put a Limbsaver on 870 Express and it reduces the recoil by about 75%. I have used them on my 300 Win Mag with the resulting recoil of about a 30-30 and my 45-70 with the same result. I have never used the Remington pads but do know they are about half the price. The Limbsavers are precut to fit the 870 and all you have to do is remove the existing but plate and screw them on.

We both have the laminate stock.

I know Remington makes one or two SuperCell pad for wood/laminate stocks, but from what I've heard, the fit can be kind of hit-or-miss since there are so many different wood stocks out there.

long time, no post!

agreed. I've been running 00buck shot through my 870 mainly. I've been getting accustomed to the kick but after about 20 rounds, I'm done.

I got a supercell on sale at my gun shop 10%. It definitely makes shooting less painful.
