HI all I am new to owning a Remington 870 but not new to guns.
so my issue is when I am shoving shells into the magazine tube the shells sometime hang up like they wont go into the magazine tube no matter how hard I push then after a minute of figgeting with it the shell will enter the magazine tube.
it must be a bad part or something any information would help.
Thanks

Are you running a magazine extension?
Re: Remingotn 870 problem
I can't say exactly that this will work but it worked for me. So i bought a remington 870 three months ago and when i first got it loaded it up and it would only take 4 shells but mine has a magazine extension. So what i did was take the gun completely apart and cleaned inside the magazine tube and oiled it. After putting it back together i never had the problem again now it will hold 7 shells in the mag tube. Im guessing that the follower was getting stuck between the mag tube and the mag tube extension. I dont know if this is your problem but IF you have a mag extension try it and see if it works.
Re: Remingotn 870 problem
Action has to be fully closed into battery so that the breech bolt locking lug is engaged in the barrel chamber locking notch. Then try to load a shell. Better way is to cock the hammer and close the action before loading.

Your extension was probably loose or improperly installed when you first got it. With the two-piece Remington extensions, this can open a gap inside the tube that causes the follower to hang up at the joint. I wouldn't recommend oiling the inside of your magazine tube, as that can attract dust or powder residue, and possibly even kill shell primers.Zachary wrote:I can't say exactly that this will work but it worked for me. Re: Remingotn 870 problem
The spring may have been pinched between the mag and mag extension. Whenever you take the spring out, when putting it back in, give the mag a tap with you hand to jar it loose if it did stick. Could have happened at the factory when first assembled.
