New to the Forum: South Carolina
Hello, my name is Scott and I'm new to the 870 forum. I've owned an 870 Tac-2 for a little over eight years now. I'm hoping to add a Wingmaster to the safe in the near future. A lot of what I do is simple part and accessory swapping to customize the 870 for my use. I'm looking forward to learning more about the history of the 870 and hope to one day become certified gunsmith and certified as an 870 armorer.

Howdy. New here too, from Missouri.Whiskey-071 wrote:Hello, my name is Scott and I'm new to the 870 forum. I've owned an 870 Tac-2 for a little over eight years now. I'm trying to get comfortable with the idea of a swivel mount in the laminate stock on an 870 Express. Bass Pro has them on sale here for $329 with a $25 rebate, and that's hard to beat. I had a Mossy 835 a while back, but realized I'd never shoot 3 1/2" mags out of it.
That left the Mossy 500 vs. the 870 Express (money isn't "an" object, it's the only object in my case), and even though there's a combo for $350 with the 500 28" + an 18.5" cylinder bore, the 870 Express' action, even not being a Wingmaster, was a lot better feeling in my hands. Definitely heavier though.
An old friend of mine who's a firearms instructor gently leaned me towards the Remmy, and now the only question is the swivel screw in the laminate stock. I'll get a 28" bbl. tomorrow and save up for the 18.5" later, and then a +2 kit.
I'm kind of like you; just wanting to learn all I can about them. Gunsmithing is something I could really sink my teeth into, as I've always loved working on small things on a workbench as opposed to hanging drywall or framing a house or something. Picked the bug up from working on old Lionel Trains.
Good to meet you!
