I got one of these new gun and although I like the gun I would like to be able to add a choke or breach end... if that is the right wording

If I look for a replacement barrel, what am I gonna look for? I can't seem to get results for a barrel that has the guide ring way up front, so guess this barrel is never meant to be replaced.
None I have seen have the guide way up front... I have seen a work around for this using a peace of PVC as a spacer but no idea on how to ask for a barrel that would allow me to screw in a choke that either extends past the normal length to add a breacher, or stops flush with barrel.

New to the idea of changing out barrels period. Please be gentle with me.

Guess I need to find a good Gunsmith and grill him about it all?

Remington makes barrels for the long-mag 870s that are threaded for chokes. These are used on Express Tactical models that come with breacher chokes, and there are a couple versions with different finishes and sights. You should be able to order one of these barrels if you call Remington; just make sure they understand that you need the barrel for an 870 Tactical with the single-piece 6-round magazine tube. Some folks have ended up with the wrong type of barrel because they didn't make this clear.

Another option is to have a gunsmith thread your current barrel for choke tubes. Pretty much any fixed-choke 870 barrel can be threaded for choke tubes, and it's a fairly common procedure that will probably be less expensive than buying a whole new barrel.

That the parts were cheap on the inside. And that the guns sold at Walmart were second hand and made cheap just for Walmart . Please let me know,I have found one I like at Walmart for $357.00 :?:
I just bought me one ..... :D

If you are looking for a less expensive option to be able to mount a brerach adapter, look at Home Front Defense Devices - http://www.hfd2.com. The have breach a breach adapter designed specifically for the long mag 870 with the unthreaded cylinder bore barrel. The adapter fits over the magazine cap and protrudes about an inch past the muzzle. It looks pretty cool, but other than that it really doesn't have a purpose for an HD gun. My wife bought me one for Christmas. About $40.00 and I think she said shipping was free.

I think Remington makes an adapter magazine cap so you can use standard barrels

They do make a spacer, but that looks kind of clunky, and it adds more weight out at the muzzle end of the gun. It'll also add to the cost of getting the new barrel. If you really want to put a hunting barrel on your Tactical receiver, it sort of gets the job done, but if you just want interchangeable chokes, having a gunsmith thread the existing barrel is generally going to be the better way to go.
