Can someone show me pictures comparing new blued to old blue

Post by 68strat »

What is the difference between the modern blued 870s and the older ones (pre 1980)?

Id like to see pictures if you have them since I want to see the difference in how they look. Also, is the newer bluing process better in any way?

Thanks!

I am not a fan of the parkerization process...i know its more durable but i hate the look.

When talking about 870s, "blued" generally refers to the high-polish Wingmaster-style bluing. As far as I'm aware, Remington hasn't changed that process in any way that would affect its appearance. The matte bluing used on Expresses and some special-purpose models is typically referred to as matte black oxide, or just the Express finish.
