Slide assembly with A and gash on slide
I just bought a new 870 super mag went to clean it for the first time and saw this...... Anybody ever seen this

It might grow larger and deeper by time until it cracks off, but if it would interfere with function afterwards is still a question. I guess a prepper would immediately call Remingtons to ship a new one on warranty.

It's not a crack, it's a dent, probably a manufacturing defect. That's a stamped part, maybe a metal chip got into the machine. In any case, it's not going to get bigger or make anything break off. If I'm seeing it right, it shouldn't even interfere with the gun's function. Maybe that's what the "A" indicates, that it's just a cosmetic blemish and the part can still be used.
