new 870 police extractor problem

Post by parkerdanny16 »

I just picked up a new 870 police a couple days ago I took it down today to clean it before firing and noticed a gouge in the receiver from the extractor and another spot in the top of the receiver I assume is from the bolt lock. Ive seen this before with people putting non mim extractors in express models but this is a brand new police with a factory non mim extractor. Has anyone else had these issues and how were they resolved?

It's normal for 870s - of any type - to develop wear marks in both of those locations. However, that wear mark from the extractor can form faster or become deeper when a machined extractors is used, since they tend to stick out further from the bolt.

This is one reason I like the MIM extractors. They have a more refined shape that conforms closer to the bolt's curvature.
