A weight i found in my grandpas stock

Post by jakekap » Thu Jul 11, 2013 3:30 pm

I was taking off my grandpas leather recoil pad and i found a huge chunk of metal in the spot where the nut and bolt is to take off the stock. I can tell that the leather was a add on because the screw holes had match sticks in them where someone tried to fix a striped hole. the gun is a 1952 870 wingmaster. I think it is a weight and I was looking on line for any info and I couldnt find any info on it. Can some one please help me.

Probably for using the stock/butt as a club to smack/jab people.

Did your grandpa shoot competitively? A lot of serious competition shooters add weights to their shotguns to alter the balance, heft, and/or recoil of the gun.
