Sounds like a trip back to Remington for a tube replacement is in order. What exactly was your method of removal?

Due to the magazine tube being brazed into the receiver pounding out the dimples can result in damage. Obviously you can damage/deform the tube as well which sounds like is the case. The preferred method is just drilling out the dimples, Remington teaches this in the armorers class as I understand it. J.D. has a video here on his site along with a lot of useful 870 info;

Can you post a pic, maybe someone has some ideas to help you out.

I drilled my dimples out with a 1/4" drill bit filed it smooth with a small round file and repainted it.

It's a square cut thread, not really going to find it at Harbor Freight or anything. You can find some threads online showing this when people are cutting down the tube for a AOW/SBS projects.

Send it back to Remington, have it fixed right and chalk it up as a learning experience. They are pretty fast and the price should be reasonable. Ask that they install a magazine tube without the dimples.

Without pics it's hard to access how much is going on but it sound's like you should step away for a bit as to not create any further damage. Everybody has those moments where something looked a lot easier online.
