Bore cleaning

Post by Aje870 » Fri Feb 03, 2017 4:00 am

I have recently purchased a new 870. Like any investment I want to keep it in amazing shape. I clean it after ever use no matter round count but I can never seem to get it white glove clean. I've let the barrel soak, run a bore brush through multiple times, I've even gone to the point of using an electric drill to polish the inner. Still I have what looks like dull spots in the mirror finish and my OCD drives me nuts. The place that it primarily takes place is where the barrel begins to thin. The cleaning solution I use are either Remington bore cleaner, hoppe's 9 or break free CLP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also is it possible to post pics to this page?

There's a product called the Tornado Brush for shotguns. It's very good at cleaning a smooth bore and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. Also, Hoppe's No. 9 is a good bore cleaner for an 870.

Hope this helps.

Looks like plastic build up from the wads. Try a better solvent like shooters choice.
