What problems have you experienced?

What issues or problems have you had with your 870?

While all of my 870s are older (1960, 1974, 1980, 1983, 1989), I have only experienced one issue and that was a broken firing pin back in 1981. The gun was made in 1960 and was a regularly used gun. I still have this gun and I am turning it into a home defense gun.

I have had to polish the chamber on 1 late version of the gun to get it to extract properly.

My experience is fairly limited at this point as my 870 is the express model and only about two months old. With that being said I have put about 500 rounds through it at this point and the only problem I have had with it was 1 failure to eject. That happened within the first 50 rounds that I ever put through it so I have just written that off as part of the break in period.

I guess I should count myself lucky as I have not had any of the problems that I have heard about with some of the express models. My friends all own 870s of varying ages and swear by them. I personally don't think you can go wrong with this gun.
