First 870 build

Post by mkrauss » Sat Nov 23, 2013 11:41 pm

I looked for months to find an old beat up 870 to fix up. I just couldnt see the fun in fixing up a new gun. I finally found a 25 year old express. The action was smooth as butter. There was some start of rust and the wood was beat up. For $75 I thought it was a good start. Around the same time I found the Rem 870 website. I have since read every article and watched every how to video. I wanted to try and reshape and duracoat the stock and forend. I ruined the stock so I went for the sga. I love it. The forend I cut a little bit off and put grooves in it like the cobb style. I also added green alum follower 3 round ext. tube front and back gandg sling. plus much more. I also polished everything that could possibly be hit. All i have to do is shoot her now. I am now hooked. looking for another gun to work on. Thanks to all the regulars who make this website what it is.

Awesome looking gun! The Magpul AFG2 angled fore grip would be a nice addition as well. Good luck with the gun.

Nice build!!! I wish I could find a $75 870, that was a killer deal. If I found 1 at that price I think I would have to do a SBS build.

Thanks Vitaly for helping with the pics. I had a bleep bleep time getting those on line the first time They were too large for the page to accept, then I finally got them to download and they were oversize. Thanks again. Its funny my wife and my kids have seen your picture next to articles and they say.Why is that picture of you on there. I guess we look a lot alike and I have the same coat as the one you are wearing. I thank you for all the help and knowledge you provide fellow gun enthusiests.
