remington 870 tactical

Post by TK65 » Wed Aug 28, 2013 11:05 pm

....hi guys!!
I have just purchased the 870 Remington Tactical, 12 ga, 18 1/2 barrel with choke, rear and front sigh and magazine extension. Before making tha purchase, like every novice, I made a lot of research and read a lot of reviews. Some guys said they shoot all kind of shells from upland game and target, birds ending with buck shot, slugs and home defense ammunition. The gun was bought for home defense mainly. For the versatility of the barrel I bought it in order to dont have another issue with changing barrels. A fellow told me that for buck shot, slugs and home defense I will need another barrel. Is that true, so that I got wrong with my choice?? If I need to buy another barrel, what do you guys recomend me?? Thanx!!

Do you know the specific order number for your gun? What choke do you have in it now?

An 18.5" barrel will work fine for HD, and with the right choke, you can shoot anything you want through it. If you get into serious slug hunting, you may want a dedicated slug hunting barrel with different sights or a scope mount, and rifling. For HD though, you should be good to go.

The order number should be a 5-digit number. What you're describing sounds like an 81198 model. Is that on the box's label anywhere?

Remington's breaching choke is a straight cylinder bore; no constriction. You can shoot anything through it safely.
