Mesa tactical side saddle

Post by Mikedertty909 » Wed Jul 01, 2020 4:18 am

I’m new to shotguns so sorry if this is stupid.
So I tried to install a 6 shot Mesa tactical side saddle and the farther screw to the right that replaces the stock pin went in without any issues but the screw that replaces the pin closest to the trigger would not go in for nothing. Tried hammering it in lightly but nothing. I got frustrated and gave up on the side saddle and went to put the stock pins back in but even the stock pin wouldn’t push back in.
I then noticed that the detent spring was blocking the pin from going in. I didn’t wanna keep pushing the pin in and ruin it so i took the detent spring off and tried to install the side saddle again. Both screws did slide in with no issues. Question is, do I need to keep on that detent spring or how can i put the screw in with the detent spring to mount the side saddle without breaking the spring?

I had the same problem recently. I couldn't get the front screw in for nothing. Finally I just used a small punch to go all the way through and followed it with the front screw. Problem solved. BTW, the back pin went in easily.
Due to the increased price of ammo, don't expect a warning shot...
