Non-mim extractor/stainless follower issue
Re: Non-mim extractor/stainless follower issue
Dose your non mim extractor move freely? Or dose it hang up when you pull it?

If you want to save space, you can stick multiple images together in MS Paint, or something similar.GT99BLACK wrote:Took some pics. This is the non mim extractor and shell getting stuck. I can only upload 3 pics at a time since im not using image hosting.
My guess would be that the extractor isn't moving freely enough for the shell to line up with the chamber correctly during feeding.
I don't think I've seen 870 extractors with that beveling before. Keep in mind I don't have a lot of first-hand experience with them (my 870 has the MIM extractor, and it works fine), but all the images I've seen show a different shape.
The part you received might have been manufactured or finished incorrectly, or it might be the wrong part.
I still have no idea why your follower is causing the same problem.

I agree with Synchronizor about the alignment, but how does it do with 2-3/4" shells?

These pics are with 2 3/4 in shells. This is the part http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/ ... 27187.aspx

Carlo,
The non mim extractor moves pretty well so not sure if that's the issue.

That shell says 76mm on it, which is a 3" shell. A 2.75" shell would be 70mm.
The part in that link doesn't look like the one in your pictures. Can you post a close-up image of the extractor you received?GT99BLACK wrote:This is the part http://www.brownells.com/shotgun-parts/ ... 27187.aspx
Also, do you have a part number anywhere in your packing slip or order confirmation for this? The correct item should be PN F16176 (or possibly F97597).
Re: Non-mim extractor/stainless follower issue
Synchronizer, haha that's embarrassing, I just usually have 2 3/4". Okay so loaded up some 2 3/4" and it went smoother but not consistent. Here is what happens when it Fs up. You can kind of see it but the shell gets angled a bit before going into chamber and gets stuck as shown it bottom pic. Detailed pics of extractor next.

Re: Non-mim extractor/stainless follower issue
Best I can tell, that looks more like an 870/1100 extractor than an 11-87 extractor, but it still could have some dimensional issues.
Here's my guess at what's happening; let me know if I'm wrong.
When the carrier brings the shell up and the extractor tries to attach before it's parallel with the chamber, the extractor isn't pushed out of the way easily enough, so the top edge of the angled shell is pushed along the top of the inside of the receiver, where it snags on the lip above the chamber. Since a 3" shell is longer, it's less likely to be lined up before the extractor encounters the rim, making it more prone to hanging up.
If you open your action all the way, drop a shell into the ejection port, push up the shell carrier with your finger so the entire shell is held against the receiver parallel to the barrel, and then close the action, can you replicate the jam?

Re: Non-mim extractor/stainless follower issue
Ok heres me swingin for the fence. I looked at mine. The shell is angled the exact same as yours. theres nothing for the shell to snag on. BUT if your follower got bent one way or the other side to side some how then it would snag the edge of the chamber.
Also pump shotguns are very rough if the action is worked slowly. Im assuming its hanging up at full speed but i have to make sure your not creating this just by working the action slowly.
