Most cool. Thanks for sharing.

How much did the plating set you back?

That looks great, the nickel plating seems to be an excellent match with the factory plating, which isn't always the easiest thing to pull off with firearm finishes.

Was that finishing exterior-only, or did the chamber/bore/choke threads get plated as well? Also, how is the finish holding up in wear spots like the barrel extension, breech, and guide ring?

Thanks, yeah I was really happy with how well it matched. I only had them plate the outside. I was worried that the plating might mess up the choke threads. So it was exterior only. And everything is holding up very well. Although I do baby it a lot haha, but nevertheless the plating isn't showing any signs of wear.

That's cool. You'll have to keep us posted on how it's holding up as time goes on. I've been thinking that a quality nickel plating might be a good choice if someone wanted a really high-end base layer for a cosmetic final coating.

Did the people you had do it mention how thick they made the plating?

@torrentman, I too have a marine magnum I was thinking of doing this with. (I absolutely must have a marine mag with a 26" barrel and a 10 round magazine tube. Shame they're not a factory option. lol) Who did you get to do the plating?

nice, 26" barrel with 10 round mag would look sick in the nickle finish. Well the company I used was called Balesmold. They normally just do commerical stuff, like pipes. In fact they didn't even want to do it at first since they don't have a license to work on weapons. But I told them to just consider it a 'pipe', lol. They were cool about it. But i'm pretty sure theres plenty of companies out there that can do it. I just went with them since it was a 30 min drive from where I live, heh.
